How to Be a Competitive Buyer in Today’s Housing Market [INFOGRAPHIC]

It’s a jungle out there!

With so many buyers looking at so few houses on the market, it’s important to be prepared when you’re ready to buy a home.

Know your must-haves and nice-to-haves

Need to have a finished basement? Is a 2-car garage non-negotiable? Choose 3-5 things that you MUST have in your home, which will help narrow down the properties on the market and help you hone in on the ones you should really consider.

Be prepared for a bidding war

The average number of offers a house on the market receives today is 3.7 offers! Make sure you understand the process, including key dates (such as when money needs to be deposited into escrow), especially if you need to sell a house before you can buy a house.

Don’t let your emotions get the best of you

Listen to your agent as your voice of reason. Your Torii agent is an expert in his or her field! That said, there is nothing wrong with slowing down your search process if you just aren’t finding what you want – and are afraid to commit to something you don’t truly love. Be honest with yourself and your Torii agent about what you’re looking for and what your budget is, and you’re sure to have a great home buying experience! Relax… you’ve got this!

TL;DR:

  • Meet with your lender early
  • Know your must-haves and nice-to-haves
  • Prepare for a bidding war
  • Keep your emotions in check
  • Relax… you’ve got this! (And we’re here to help you every step of the way)
